I find this to be a good quality rolling pin. I did sand a couple of slightly rough areas but they were small. I also oiled with mineral oil once a day for the first five days. I believe that is recommended for rolling pins in general. It is larger and heavier than I have used in the past but I am happy to have the longer length and weight. I have used it several times without problems.
