The superior ring bending tool is a reliable and efficient solution for your bending needs. It comes with a main unit and a set of matched posts and dies, providing you with consistent and accurate results every time. The tool includes round posts and matching dies in various sizes, including 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm diameter, as well as a 90° square post and a 60° diamond-shaped post. smadou is committed to continuous improvement, so slight variations and special value deals may occur. However, the operation of the tool remains consistent across all versions. The tool is user-friendly, but the following tips will ensure optimal results: To set up the tool, ensure it is securely affixed to a solid surface. The tool can be used by both left and right-handed individuals, and the handle can be rotated accordingly. There are several setup options: Option 1: Use screws or bolts to fix the unit directly to your workbench using the four countersunk holes. Do not place a screw into the post hole. Option 2: Screw the unit onto a plank of wood, which can then be clamped to your workbench using a G-clamp. This method provides portability without damaging your workbench. Using rubber grip matting underneath the plank can aid in grip and protect your worktop. Option 3: If you have a fixed bench vice, the bender can be placed on top of the vice jaws and clamped tightly underneath. Note the recessed step underneath the unit, which provides a secure yet flexible option. Bending Rings To begin bending rings, you will need a strip of annealed metal. It's best if the strip is not wider than the height of the post you are using. For your ring size, you may want to choose a post slightly smaller than your final size. Insert the post into the depression on the main unit, ensuring a snug fit. Each post has a matching die with a stud at the rear. Slot the stud into the slot on the main unit, making sure the die wraps around the post. Open the gap between the post and die by moving the handle. Insert your strip between the two, keeping the edge flat against the surface of the unit at all times to maintain a 90-degree bend. To start, lay the strip across the die and make your first bend a little way in from the end. Bend the end later, once you have a curve started. As you pull the handle towards the post, the piston will slide, pushing the die against the strip and bending it around the post. Release the pressure and reposition your strip a few millimeters further along. Pull the lever again to bend. Repeat, moving the strip along and bending a little at a time. Once you have a half curve, insert the very end of your strip to ensure a smooth curve to the end. Be careful to avoid marking where the strip overlaps itself. Check the ring size using a mandrel. Cut the strip where the overlap occurs and solder as normal. Tip: If you're working with a thicker strip, try using a larger die with the same post to achieve a smoother curve. Round Post 12mm,14mm,16mm,18mm,20mm,22mm 90 deg Awesome tool, simple to use, and makes great rings,90° shape bend. 60 deg This ring bending kit is so easy to use and makes quick work of making rings in all sizes. Superior nylon dies This bending tool speeds up the process and allows artisans to focus on their creativity. Bend rings it is so neat! I wanted a tool that could help me bend spoons and forks to make rings. Ring bending with nylon die This ring maker tool has made making rings so much easier and I get more accurate sizes and shapes. 90 deg bends Works great for making spoon rings as long as spoons aren’t too thick. Trial nylon dies So far it has worked fine for making rings out of silver plate flatware. Nylon dies For softer metals, profiled ring shanks, or textured strips, smadou offers two sets of nylon dies , a tough thermoplastic that reduces the chance of marking delicate metals while maintaining the same bending capabilities. Most ring making tools bend the material by an external force, so it is unavoidable to leave marks on the material. so this ring maker kit comes with nylon dies that will allow you to make bends without marring delicate materials. square Bends The Superior Ring Bending Tool also includes a square post and die for making perfect right angled bends. To use this feature, insert the post and die, and pull the handle to ensure the square post fits perfectly into the die. Mark where you want the bend on your strip and place the mark on the inner corner of the post. Make sure to keep the strip flat on the surface to create a straight bend across the strip. The set also includes a 60° diamond shaped die for creating sharper bends, which is ideal for bent findings such as chain ends or bails, ensuring a perfect and accurate starting bend. About tough metals For tougher metals like steel or thick cutlery, consider using the ring shank bender, which is larger and provides more leverage. Note that the Superior Ring Bending Tool is designed for working with soft precious metals, not tough metals. To maintain the tool, an occasional light coating of household oil is all that is required. Apply with a soft cloth, remembering to coat the posts and dies as well. With no post inserted, move the lever back and forth while applying a few drops of oil around the moving block (piston). Ensure it moves smoothly and springs back when the lever is moved. If the tool will not be used for a prolonged time, coat all parts with a light application of oil and store in a sealed plastic container in a dry place. To keep tools dry and rust-free, consider using small silica gel packets in the sealed box.
