Generally the build quality of this chair is very good. The main frame is sturdy and has nice clean welds. The seat fabric is pretty thick and good quality naugahyde; better than any other chair/stool I have seen. The hydraulic lift seems to be well made. I can agree with many others that the Red Tray is unnecessarily thin and brittle. The wheels are JUNK! There is a huge amount of slop in the bearing mechanisms and the wheels are made of hard plastic. The hard plastic wheels do not climb over debris or objects very well, and are loud and uncomfortable, in spite of being 5" in diameter. I replaced the wheels with some much softer rubber wheels that make the chair/stool sooooo much better to roll around on.
