stated it was a paperback-turned out to be a hardcover! condition was listed as good-turned out to be much better than that-good-excellent! shipping time was quick, even though it was christmas rush season! price of $6.34 was ridiculously low! and, to boot, signed up for the amazon.com store card and with $10.00 dollars off only paid .91 cents including the shipping fee! i would not hesitate to order again(and with moving into a new apt next monrth the card will be used! also will recommend to family and friends! having worked in retail as a clerk and management for over 50 yrs.(just retired and collecting social security) you guys should be proud of yourselves! you have combined the old retail spirit of giving customers good products and excellent service with the new age of digital and electronic salesmanship! my only complaint - after watching the 60 min. story about the delivery drones, i was amazed at the breathtakingly advanced technology and greatly dismayed at those things flying over my head! it's like the sega scooter phenom of last decade- great idea, but to complicated to insitute and clog our sidewalks. heck, people can't even drive correctly-could youying imagine hundreds of those things vying with pedestrians! after people thought about it it never took off! SO PLEASE NO DRONES- YOUR DELIVERY IS QUIOCK ENOUGH!Not only is The New Rolling Stone Album Guide my absolute thing I've ever purchased from Amazon.com, it is undoubtedly the item with the most out-in-out quality. While the reviews are sometimes harsh and inconsistent at times (is AC/DC's High Voltage really that much worse than any other AC/DC album?), the selling point of this book are the great essays written about each artist. Everyone from The Beatles to A.F.I. has an entry about their work and history (granted some understandably include more information and effort than others).Never before have I found a resource that allows such simple and fun ways of discovering new artists, appreciation for the music already in your library, laughs about the duds that you've experienced over time, and that unearths hidden gems that you may have missed. It's something that I will be using religiously until the release of the next one.Nice to see what critics think of my favorite albums a must haveI like reference books, so even though I consult allmusic.com reviews, I periodically return to this reference. Some reviews of albums are a bit on the thin side, but it serves its purpose. Must say, though, that some reviews are smarmy. Rush and Elton John are only given begrudging credit. This is the fourth edition of this truly excellent book! Fun to read and very informative!must have for any collector, don't waste money on bad recordsThe content is brilliant. But the book as in a very bad shape. Hope there be a new edition coming soon.Awfull not even worthy of a half star
