See "BIGGEST COMPLAINT", below. Pilot G2 Pens are great. I use 0.7, 0.5, and 0.38mm pens in Black, Navy, Red, and Green for multiple hours every day, primarily on cheap notebook paper, and they all work very well for their applications: 0.7mm for bold headings and drawings; 0.5mm for sub-headers or anything in between 0.7 and 0.38mm; and 0.38mm for the majority of general writing, especially anything needing to be crammed into tight space.COMPARISON:- I have noticed the Uni-Ball Signo DX 0.38mm writes slightly more fine than the Pilot.- The Pilot 0.38mm dries quicker than the 0.5 and 0.7mm. Also "lasts longer", i.e, spends less ink per stroke length.ISSUES:- 0.5mm replacement cartridges worked great but only for 70% of their capacity, consistently between 3 pens, after which they began to fade and skip. Hoping this was a batch issue as I plan to restock.- 0.38mm pens can drag slightly on cheap notebook paper. Usually negligible.- BIGGEST COMPLAINT: out of the first 4 I have used, 2 of the 0.38mm pens have had their ball fall out! See image attached. The needle-like point is the end of an internal spring used to preload the ball to the tip. It will render a pen cartridge useless, regardless of how much ink is left. Both occasions, happening a couple of weeks apart, came from things which would not seem to cause such.(1) I had just been writing, placed the pen (retracted, of course) in my pocket, and biked 1 minute to another building. Pulled it out and attempted to write, but lo, I found the exposed spring was all that was left at the tip, so it just scratched my paper and leaked ink. Retracted again and placed in backpack; hours later, unsurprisingly, some of the ink had slowly leaked out.(2) I was writing, pen tip out, and idlily let the pen tip hit the underside of the desk, not very hard. Ball fell out, spring tip exposed.I have only seen this happen with the 0.38mm's, so I will probably move back up to 0.5mm.Fluid and doesn’t spluge when writing.great pen, need them to write in very small places and it works wellI used to take notes by etching cuneiform on a wet clay tablet. Not anymore! Now I can write down everything my teacher says … quickly and easily! I’m one of the smartest kids in Mesopotamia! Thanks, Pilot!I didn’t realize I was buying the super ultra fine (0.38), but I’ve adjusted. :-) They work great! These are really fine point pens that keep writing until they’re empty.Best pens I have ever used. Recently my work stopped ordering them ? so I got these for myself. They are wonderful to useMy husband loved the pens, uses them for work. These pens write fantastic, smooth but very fine tips.I've found about half of the ones I've used so far if put in a pocket or anywhere that temperature changes significantly they will leak like crazy all around the tip, then ink gets everywhere when you actually use the pen.Definitely seems to be a quality-control problem, as many of the rest of the same pack have been fine, even in a breast-pocket for daily use for a week or two. These pens are great for the first 1/4 of their ink life. They write smoothly with solid, thin lines. After the ink has been used 1/4 of the way, the pens start to leak out the ball point. The pens then do not write solid lines and the ink collects on the plastic tip during periods of non use. I have to wipe the tip of the pen of before each use to prevent ink from going all over my hands and everywhere I touch. I now throw out every pen once this occurs which is normally after 1/4 of its intended usage.I bought two packages for work and am unsure if I was shipped old pens, or these ones were specifically defective.absolutely love this pen. my only issue is that it smears when highlighted. because of that, as i am a student and highlight a lot, this will be the last time i purchase this. have to start the hunt for another pen that writes so well and is smear proof.Rolls nicely, deep black lines. Only problem is, due to the small tip size, if you drop it at all while it's in the open position you've essentially wasted a pen. Nothing against the pen, it just calls for careful handling and placement of the pens so they don't accidentally fall on the ground.
