DESCRIPTION
Homemade ice cream no longer means laborious time spent at the turning wheel. This fully automatic ice-cream maker can produce up to 1-1/2-quarts in less than half an hour--no salt or ice required. Its efficient canister freezes in just 8 hours where traditional freezing methods can take up to 24 hours. After freezer the canister, place it on the base, secure the paddle and lid in place, turn on the machine, and slowly pour in the mixture of fresh ingredients. The unit will freeze and blend the ingredients into smooth ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, sorbet, or even frozen drinks like daiquiris or margaritas. Best of all, the unit comes with a candy crusher that dispenses cookies or candy into ice cream. Other highlights include a powerful 40-watt motor, a double-insulated gel cylinder, a transparent lid for keeping an eye on the action, anti-slip rubber feet, and hidden cord storage to help keep countertops tidy, as well as a collection of delicious ice-cream recipes. Available in a variety of colors, the automatic ice-cream maker with candy crusher measures 10 by 9 by 14 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

After "Ice Cream Machine" appeared on my 6 year's old Christmas list for the second year in a row, Santa decided he really did want one enough to get one. And a lime green one at that! Once the Hot Wheels got put away a few days after Christmas, the requests started piling up to use the dang thing. Of course, the last time I made ice cream was in the 70s with a hand crank model, and it was so laborious that we never did it again. So I kept putting it off, thinking I needed a whole afternoon. Finally I got the few ingredients we needed and was shocked to find out how fast and simple the whole process was! We measured the handful of ingredients needed for vanilla ice cream, put it in, and the machine magically did the rest! I did make a mistake by putting the mixture in the bowl before starting up the machine- so it froze along the sides and I had to scrape it off (not an easy task) before the mixer attachment could turn. Aside from that little snafu, it was simple enough that my 6 year old could make it by himself next time! And of course the ice cream was absolutely delicous. It's definitely soft serve consistency when it's just made, but we froze it for awhile and it hardened up to regular ice cream consistency. We can't wait to try out more recipes and invent our own!
