Original ice maker began to fail; making ice occasionally. Attempted to repair in vain (took the gearbox apart but no joy)!. Reluctantly paid for this replacement part - thought it was on the higher side cost-wise, but not many other options. In the end it was the correct decision. It’s like-for-like replacement for the original part, you cannot really tell them apart. If you take the old unit out yourself (which I advise) you will be able to refit this part easily, no special skills needed, it takes about 20 minutes to do. You only need a couple of Philips screwdrivers (different sizes). No need to turn the fridge off (or the water etc). The power is a simple plug that is keyed so you cannot insert it incorrectly. There are some videos of how to do it online. After the installation I sat back and waited, the first cycle takes longer so be patient, likely that the temperature sensors deep inside the gearbox take a while to acclimate after you’ve fitted the part from room temperature. But it worked. And went on to subsequently work as good as new. Mine has been running for several months now. No issues to report on the production of ice, speed, dispensing into the tray (no hang ups). Yes it was more than I had hoped to pay but it works great so no complaints to date.
